History

A proud tradition of excellence, sportsmanship and national spirit.

The Pony Club Australia® National Championships is a highlight of the equestrian calendar, bringing together riders from across the country to compete in a range of disciplines. Held every two years, this prestigious event not only showcases the talent of young riders, but also celebrates the camaraderie, teamwork and sportsmanship that define Pony Club®.

Riders and teams vie for national titles and the highly coveted Roger Braham OAM Perpetual Shield, competing in a series of thrilling events that reflect the spirit and skill of Pony Club® members nationwide.

The first National Championships, titled “Towards 2000” , were held in 1995 at Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. Inspired by Sydney securing the hosting rights for the 2000 Olympic Games, the event was created to unite Pony Club® riders and encourage them to pursue their Olympic dreams.

Since that inaugural event, the Championships have grown into a much anticipated biennial tradition.
